There’s nothing like the bend of a fishing rod on an early morning excursion into uncharted smallie waters! On the second day my fishing bud and I combined for 15 smallmouth in 3-4 hours of fishing. Once again I was impressed with the quality of these small stream smallmouth. Only two where under 12 inches. The two biggest fish came in at 15” and 15.5”. Not monsters but definitely respectable.
Baits
Yum Dingers produced on the first day so we basically stuck with the winner. Two quotes that I live by in fishing: “Don’t leave fish to find fish” and “Don’t change the menu if your still getting bit”.
Pattern
Early morning we focused on shallow water areas. Once the sun came up we zeroed in on the fact that the stream had an abundance of over hanging brush. We “skipped” our baits back under the brush were the water was at least a foot deep. This worked like a charm!
Water Conditions
Very low. Visibility 5+ feet. Water temps unknown.
Weather Conditions
Air temps in the 80’s. Sunny
